Questions YOU Need to Ask When Calling A Shop
We believe there are certain questions, as a customer, you need to ask of when calling a transmission repair shop. Price is a factor when repairing your vehicle, but should not be the determining factor when making your selection. These simple questions are sure to help you when start seeking transmission repair.
Q. What is the cost for initial analysis of my problem?
A. We at Transmission Masters do not charge for an analysis.
Q. How can you give me a price over the phone if my transmission is going to be rebuilt based on parts I need when there are hundreds of parts inside?
Q. How can you give me a price over the phone without having diagnosed my problem?
Q. How can you give me a price over the phone when many different scenarios can create the same symptoms?
Q. Do you rebuild with NEW or USED parts?
A. Although you may sometimes be able to replace a part on the transmission with USED (i.e. tail housing, pans, non-wearing parts) this shouldn’t be what a shop is doing to rebuild your transmission. Unfortunately, this has become a standard in the industry. You wouldn’t want one used piston if you were rebuilding your engine.
Q. What is your warranty?
A. It should be at least a year, as that is what parts manufacturers give. Beware of warranties that are too long, as they are usually associated with high pricing or slight of parts to offset future costs to repair under warranty.
Q. How long have you been in business?
Q. How long have you been in business at that location?
A. If shop moves around it could be a sign instability.
Q. Have you done business under a other name?
A. Could be a sign the owner may be trying to evade creditors or even worse, previous customers.

Dear Scott,
I really appreciate the knowledge and patience you had with me when you were explaining the my problem may not have been the transmission.
I had a 1994 Toyota Camry that broke down in 2005. I was told by other people that it might be the transmission. I had the car towed to my house were it sat in the garage for over a year and a half. I was planning to sell it because I was fed up with constantly putting money into it. I had just spent over $800.00 in repairs w/new tires and one month later the transmission is gone.
After talking with you and towing to it Transmission Masters I felt very surprised that the final result was just a fraction of the cost of a transmission. I purchased a new car during the time the old one sat in the garage.
I wished I had known you guys two years ago. I will spread the news about Transmission Masters because they really helped me and saved me money.
I now plan to give the ’94 to may teenage son when he gets his license next month.
Thanks alot.
